By now I managed to become 27 years young, living and learning in Berlin, Germany. I studied Political Science at university and am currently a journalist in the making. But secretly I want to become a glittery rainbow-coloured fairytale kitty when I grow up. As you see, I seem to differ from most people, but I don't necessarily consider that a bad thing. So if you have this feeling of alienation yourself we already might have some things in common. If I had to charactarise theworldissaved I would probably describe myself as a musicaholic, bookaholic, ponderer, witch, girlie-grrrl and loner at times. Moreover I'm complex, nerv-straining, talking a lot, thinking and analysing even more, sarcastic, politically interested, idealistic, realistic and I love to laugh (even if there's not always reason to). I can't stand shallow people, maybe because I'm not good at small talk (I can't quite grasp the concept). That might be the reason why it's equally hard for me to find friends here as it is in real life - although I'm a loyal and never had a complaint about my qualities as a friend. Utter satisfaction is not my style, that's why I'm always seeking to be a better version of myself. But of course there's a lot more to define me beyond this introduction and my interest list. I guess you've to read my journal to find out. My journal's really what you'd call a diary. It's individual and unique - and obviously in English. Most of the stuff I write in here is kind of private, that's why I turned theworldissaved Friends Only. You're free to add me, just leave a comment in my journal. I'd love to get to know you! Sometimes I merely rant or post pictures, but mostly I use my journal to write things off my chest, just let the thoughts flow. Therefore, if you come here and find a whiny entry, chances are that there'll be a funny one tomorrow. Just keeping the balance in my life - or at least try to. The journal is about my everyday life but not covering my whole day in detail (like how many times I was at the restroom or other boring trifles), my clumsy mishaps and, because it's a big lump of my life right now, a lot of future- and work-related entries. I make fun of Twilight all in good fun - Jacob is gorgeous and it is a significant failing of the books that they don't even up together lol. I no longer write fanfiction, but I've recently started reading a TON more and am also looking for people who rec fic in any of my fandoms or would like to talk fic. I play video games, so there will be some of that. I love traveling and I'm just returning from a three month study abroad adventure in Europe. Introductions And Such... [Sun/Dec/2009 at 10:55pm] added [stefandiamante] I'm no stranger to LJ, but I've recently resumed being actively involved here after quite some time away. Many of my old LJ friends have moved on to bigger and more mediocre arenas (namely Facebook), so I'm currently open to finding new blogs to read and comment upon. For the most part, I am always interested and willing to converse (and become friends) with individuals from a variety of locations and backgrounds, and I'm not the type of person who acts like they're doing someone a huge favour by adding them as a friend (it's a damn website, for crying out loud!). Anyway, this is me (condensed into a reasonably-sized blog entry)... 1. I currently live in Little Rock, Arkansas, but I was born and raised in Las Vegas (Nevada, not New Mexico). I've also lived in Denver, and have spent multiple periods of time in Los Angeles and New York City. I have no intention of staying in Arkansas forever... 2. I am a stripper (I avoid the term exotic dancer, as it implies that my performances essentially consist of me dancing, which they don't), and I've owned and operated my own agency of male and female adult entertainers for over 5 years now. I thoroughly enjoy being in this industry as both a performer and an entrepreneur, as the unregulated and off-the-grid nature (as long as we're not dealing in illicit drug trade, and paying our taxes, we're pretty much left alone by the powers that be) of the business affords me the luxury of being exceptionally creative and original in my business strategies. Although I have more conventional workplace experience (particularly as a high-end retail sales manager), I find working within the confines of such rigid protocols to be incredibly stifling and boring; and I have zero tolerance for workplace drama and politics. It's also my prerogative to never again wear a polo shirt, or a pair of khaki slacks. 3. Speaking of politics: I don't spend much time discussing them, and the same goes for religion. My opinions on both subjects are strongly along the lines of those once championed by the late Ayn Rand. I honestly don't care what anyone else does or believes, as long those beliefs don't a) cramp my personal style, or b) impede upon my ability to earn as much money as I so desire. 4. I blog often about my professional exploits, but not necessarily for the sake of promoting my business (I have other blogs and social networking profiles specifically for that purpose); rather, the business related entries in my personal blog are from a "behind the scenes" point of view, and are intended for amusement and entertainment in their own right. Yes, I indeed have (often humourous) stories and anecdotes to share from my years of experience in this industry. 5. I have artistic pursuits, including music, filmmaking, and photography. Although I have a wide-range of musical tastes, I largely gravitate towards artist who are mostly older, and mostly British (Roxy Music, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Japan, Gary Numan, Depeche Mode, etc...). As for cinema, I watch a lot of art-house and foreign language fare; and I've never seen Titanic. 6. For the record, I am 100% heterosexual, and I tend to get along better with women than men in platonic scenarios; although there are occasional exceptions to that rule. I have absolutely zero interest in ever getting married, or being anyone's father. 7. I am not interested in meeting anyone under 18 years of age. 8. For all you fellow MBTI-philes out there, I am an ENTJ. 9. Despite the fact that I tend to come off as a total hard-ass (mainly because I am a total hard-ass), I have a prominent sense of humour based largely upon sarcasm, puns, and non-sequiturs ("can you break a twenty?"); and I am definitely interested in conversing with individuals who possess these qualities. Scatological humour, however, is a comedic genre to which I never subscribe. 10. If you haven't noticed by now, I tend to use the British spellings for various words in the English language. I think that, subconsciously, I may get a kick out of leading people to believe I'm European. 11. I have a Facebook profile, but I hate the website, and I'd rather post a detailed blog regarding a fully developed idea as opposed to an endless barrage of painfully mundane status update (e.g. "Stefan is going to Auto Zone to buy an air filter."). Typically, the only status updates I post there (and on MySpace and Twitter, for that matter) are automated updates for new blog entries. 12. Although I managed to tone it down fairly well in this blog entry, I am prone to regular and consistent use of the word "fuck", its multiple variations, and other prime examples of blue language. My name is Melodie...or Mel. ~ I am 31 years old. ~ I am not new to LJ but I'm starting a new journal (I was previously known as darkfaelin. ~ I currently live in Iowa but I'm going to move to NYC with a friend...eventually. ~ I have a dog and a cat. ~ I am considering trying for a BFA then MFA in Creative Writing but a part of me still wants to do animation. ~ With that said, my main hobbies are reading, writing and drawing. ~ I listen to a lot of different kinds of music but my obsession favorite musician is Voltaire. I can be a little bit more specific and list other favorites including Bella Morte, HIM, The Cruxshadows, Weird Al, NKOTB (I kid you not), Metallica, Bon Jovi, blah blah blah blah...my playlist has been described as a bit odd (just a bit? I need to work on that). ~ I love Italian cuisine, sadly I've never had authentic Italian. I also like Mexican, Mongolian BBQ (HuHot), Baby back ribs, Chinese, Mac & Cheese (ha), ice cream, pierogies, cheesecake, and probably a million other things that aren't at the top of my head. ~ I have been into vampires since I was a little girl (my mom blames The Count from Sesame Street because that's the only vampire she can think of that I was exposed to) so I read lots of vampire books and watch lots of movies and I collect both but I don't always blog about them. Subjects will vary in this blog, including pretty much everything I have listed. There's not a whole lot going on right now but I'm working on it ;) ETA: I feel I need to mention something, due to the recent friend add that I received. I do not support animal rights organizations like PETA and HSUS (who are the main ones I can think of right now). I have pets and I would like to continue having that right for as long as I live and PETA, HSUS, etc. want to take away that right so they are garbage to me.
